My Favorite Minneapolis/St. Paul Bands Right Now.

As part of this 31 Days to a Better Blog workshop that I am participating in, I am creating a list!  But not just any list.  No sir!  This is a list of my favorite Twin Cities bands RIGHT NOW.  That is, these are Minneapolis and St. Paul bands that are getting spins in my iPod as I write this:

Station 4 Gig Tonight Cancelled

Rather than risk getting my guitar confiscated by the gestapo in St. Paul, I decided to forgo tonight’s show in St. Paul, instead opting for the much greener pastures of basketball at Chowen Park in Minneapolis. I am happy to report that Jamie and I quickly dispensed of two high school ballers, proving once again that old people still got it.

Next show is at the Dinkytowner on Sept. 17! Hope to see you there!

Gig Tomorrow at Station 4?

I was over in St. Paul, where the Republican National Convention is taking place, and the police make that area REALLY scary to be in. A bunch of people had stuff confiscated without cause in the last few days (cameras, tools, pamphlets), and I am not sure that I want to risk losing my guitar…so at this point I am still weighing my options for tomorrow’s show.

Jungle Red Salon

I just got back from Jungle Red Salon, where I played a fun 45-minute set. The crowd seemed to dig the show as well, which is always nice. ;)

Next show is Wednesday at Station 4 in St. Paul during the Republican National Convention. I go on at 8 p.m. and will be sticking it to the Republicans! Booyah!!

Station 4 Last Night

The show at Station 4 last night was memorable more for its sparseness than for its rowdyness. I played my set to a crowd of 5 staff members and 3 patrons. BUT it should be noted that BOTH the staffers and the crowd were into what I was doing – a nice improvement from some of those lonely nights at Sportsman’s Pub where I would many times play to 20 people who could give a damn about my music.

So we declare victory and move on!!!

Also, Jesse showed up and did an impromptu set that totally brought me to my dancing feet!
